Veterans Day, observed annually on November 11, recognizes and honors Veterans of the United States armed forces.
Veterans Day was formerly known as Armistice Day, initially set as a U.S. legal holiday in 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I, which officially ended on November 11, 1918.
