90 donuts in 80 seconds: WCD brings home Smackdown title again

It took less than 80 seconds for the Wisconsin Center District to once again bring home the hardware — and this time, they really rose to the occasion.

Live on stage at the Oriental Theatre, a trio of eager BPXers inhaled, demolished and downright obliterated a combined 90 donuts, leaving the five other finalists looking glazed and confused at this year’s Zizzo Group Donut Smackdown.

The annual showdown doubles as a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, which this year aimed to raise funds to replace the gym floor at the Daniels-Mardak Club that was destroyed during August’s historic floods. The goal was $100,00, but the community dug deep —bringing in a sweet $167,000.

Representing WCD were returning champs Brandon Anderson, Assistant Chief Electrician, and Brian Rutkowski, Vice President and General Manager. The duo dominated in 2024, crushing a dozen Kwik Trip Glazers faster than any other team in both the prelims and the live finals.

With teams of three added this year, Communications and PR Manager Drew Dawson stepped in to complete the donut dream team.

“We were hungry for the repeat,” Rutkowski said. “We went in with the mindset that no one could compete with us, and we delivered just that.”

They weren’t kidding. In the prelims, Brandon “Garbage Disposal” Anderson led the squad with a jaw-dropping 37 donuts in two minutes, helping the team stack up a total of 78—good enough to take first place out of 34 teams.

Securing their finals berth by a landslide, the last challenge was simple: eat 90 donuts, or as many as humanly possible, in two minutes.

Turns out, “as many as possible” was all of them.

The trio polished off their 30 donuts apiece in roughly 80 seconds, threw their hands up in triumph and were crowned champions by none other than Green Bay Packers legend Donald Driver.

Another trophy for the WCD — and some impressive pre-Thanksgiving training for our three champions.
