Keeping our facilities clean, safe and welcoming is an important part of creating a positive environment for everyone who visits and works in our buildings. That's why the District has added an innovative new cleaning technology to its custodial program: Aqueous Ozone from CleanCore Solutions.
Following a successful pilot program launched during the third quarter of 2025, the technology officially became part of the District's custodial toolkit in 2026. The positive results demonstrated that Aqueous Ozone could help improve cleaning effectiveness while supporting our ongoing commitment to safety and sustainability.
What Is Aqueous Ozone?
Aqueous Ozone is created by transforming ordinary tap water into a powerful cleaning solution using an on-site generator. The system infuses water with ozone—a naturally occurring form of oxygen—to produce a highly effective cleaner and deodorizer.
When applied to surfaces, Aqueous Ozone works by oxidizing and breaking down dirt, bacteria and odor-causing contaminants. After cleaning, the ozone naturally reverts back to oxygen and water, leaving behind no harsh chemical residue.
Why We're Using It
Traditional cleaning programs often rely on multiple chemical products for different cleaning tasks. Aqueous Ozone allows custodial staff to replace many of those conventional cleaners with a single, on-demand solution created right where it's needed.
This approach offers several important advantages:
Supporting Our Commitment to Sustainability
Adopting Aqueous Ozone is another example of the District's commitment to operating responsibly and continuously improving how we care for our facilities. By generating a powerful cleaning solution from ordinary tap water, the system helps reduce chemical waste, packaging and environmental impact while maintaining the high level of cleanliness our employees, students and visitors expect. The successful implementation of Aqueous Ozone demonstrates how innovative technology can support safer workplaces, more efficient operations and long-term sustainability goals. As we continue to evaluate new tools and best practices, solutions like Aqueous Ozone help ensure we're providing clean, healthy environments while reducing our environmental footprint.
